We are planning to re-open our clinics on a phased return over the next six months. We will contact patients to reschedule appointments as and when services restart. Meanwhile, patients can contact us in an emergency using the details below.

As an NHS community dental service, we have been commissioned to provide Intermediate Minor Oral Surgery at our South Hornchurch clinic.

This is a referral only service which means that patients can be referred by their dentist.

We provide minor oral surgery such as:

  • Removal of wisdom teeth
  • Removal of retained roots
  • Procedures and conditions which need to be managed by a clinician with enhanced skills

We have fully accredited clinicians who carry out this treatment.

A guide to patients attending the Intermediate Minor Oral Service (IMOS) at South Hornchurch Health Centre

Welcome to Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust Dental Service. This leaflet contains information regarding our IMOS service.

IMOS stands for ‘Intermediate Minor Oral Surgery’ and is a referral only Service, which means that you will be referred to us by your dentist.

We provide minor oral surgery such as:

  • Removal of wisdom teeth
  • Removal of retained roots
  • Procedures and conditions which need to be managed by a clinician with enhanced skills.

We have fully accredited clinicians who carry out this treatment.

Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5pm
plus Thursday, 5 to 8pm

If you are not happy with the response you receive from us you are entitled to raise this verbally or in writing with Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust (Contact details are at the bottom of this leaflet). You can also get support with making a complaint from a local Independent Complaints Advocacy Service (ICAS), Citizens Advice Bureau or from the Department of Health at www.dh.gov.uk

Your rights and responsibilities

You are entitled to:

  • a thorough examination of your mouth, teeth and gums
  • a full explanation of your treatment options
  • a written treatment plan including costs*
  • information about NHS charges displayed in the waiting room
  • advice on how to keep your teeth and gums healthy
  • information about our practices and the services available
  • a care and treatment summary if you decide to transfer to another dentist
  • make a complaint if you are not happy with your treatment and/or care.

* As this is treatment on referral, no additional charges will be made by us

You are responsible for:

  • Giving at least 24 hour’s notice if you have to cancel or change an appointment. We will not charge you for missed appointments but if you miss an  appointment without notice,  we may no longer be able to offer you treatment
  • Following your dentist’s advice before and after treatment to prevent complications
  • Treating our staff with courtesy and respect **

** Please note - we may refuse to see patients who are violent or abusive towards our staff, contractors, persons present on the practice premises or in the place where the treatment is being provided.

Patient information

Your patient information will remain confidential and secure, however, it may be shared in order to provide you with care and may be used to support clinical audit and other work to monitor the quality of care provided. Please ask a member of staff or see the leaflet ‘What happens to personal information held about you’ (00331) available at all clinics and on our website, for more information.

Urgent treatment and out-of-hours care

Urgent treatment means treatment that the dentist considers necessary to relieve severe pain or prevent your oral condition deteriorating before you can make a routine appointment.

If you are in a current course of treatment or immediately following a course of treatment and are experiencing pain or swelling, please call our surgery on  0300 123 9376 ext 1,  or if you need  urgent care or advice  outside of normal working  hours, please phone 111.

Alternatively, you can contact your original referring Dentist.
