Physiotherapy

Paediatric (children and young peoples) physiotherapy is the physical treatment, of childhood diseases and conditions that may impact on development and well being. Community paediatric physiotherapists provide specialist assessment and a range of therapeutic interventions to enable children with physical difficulties to reach their full potential by promoting normal movement, maximising function and independence and thereby improving quality of life and well-being.

Therapeutic interventions can include advice about specific activities/exercise, provision of specialist equipment and advice about participating in community activities, such as sport and soft play activities.

Our aim is to teach children/young people and their families/carers about about the condition that their child presents with and to advise on therapeutic activities, to either maintain or to develop skills.  We strive to place children/young people at the centre of planning for therapeutic intervention and ensure that children and young people make choices about their physiotherapy goals and intervention.

We ensure that physiotherapy service provision is developed in line with Government guidance and we are committed to improving quality and life chances for children.
