Who we are
The team consists of a modern junior matron, registered nurses, healthcare assistants, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and a care manager.
What we do
We provide an assessment and rehabilitation-focussed in-patient approach to care. There are 19 beds available on our ward and the hospital gives priority to (step-up) patients who need more care than they are receiving at home, but who do not need to go into an acute hospital, via A&E.
We also take (step-down) patients who have been in an acute hospital and need a bit more assistance before they go home. These patients primarily come from Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust hospitals, although we also take patients from out of area, if need be.
Our aim is to help patients regain their independence, where appropriate, and to teach them coping strategies. Staff work in partnership with the patient, carer and relatives to ensure all aspects of care, including assessment of needs on admission, joint goal setting, planning, implementation and evaluation of care, are effective.
We also have an outpatients’ department with visiting clinicians and service including physiotherapy, podiatry, an orthoptist; children’s hearing; dental; phlebotomy, health visiting; midwifery; hearing therapy; speech therapy; primary care psychological therapy; community neurological rehabilitation; surgical appliances and specialist nursing.
You need to be referred by your GP or other healthcare professional to use this service.
