Who we are

We are a team of specialist nurses with expertise in the care and treatment of epilepsy and our administrative team. We offer a service to clients in Kent and Medway.

We provide a link between the person with epilepsy, the consultant neurologists and the GP giving advice and monitoring medicine changes.

What we do

We provide education, advice and support to empower our clients, relatives and carers to manage their condition. Our goal is to achieve optimal seizure control.

We offer assessments and support via phone or online appointments and we will offer you a face to face appointment if we need to see you at a local clinic or your home.

We complete an assessment of your epilepsy and help you understand all you need to know about being newly diagnosed and the ongoing management of epilepsy. We share explanations and information on investigations and treatment options. We also provide lifestyle advice including maintaining good seizure control and first aid information to keep you safe. We help you to identify triggers for seizures, advise on managing and preventing prolonged seizures and share support and advice in special situations, for example pregnancy and rescue medication guidelines.

We also offer online training to enable healthcare providers to use Buccal Midazolam.

How do you use this service?

You can ask your GP or healthcare professional to make a referral to our service.

If you have seen us in the last 12 months, we also accept self referrals. Please contact us using the details at the top of this page.

Epilepsy Service patient education

This video will help guide you in understanding your Epilepsy and some of the risks associated with being diagnosed as having Epilepsy. It will also support you with many simple ways to improve your lifestyle and some of the day to day lifestyle changes you may want to observe to improve your quality of life. We encourage you to watch it as many times as you like as a refresher.
