National award for Thanet's acute response

Thanet Health Community Interest Company’s Home Visiting Service and the Complex Acute Response Team (C-ART) have recently gained national recognition.

After being nominated by Roger Gale MP, the services won the NHS Parliamentary Award (South East Region) for Excellence in Primary and Community Care, beating some 700 bids in the category.

C-ART lead Dr Rakesh Koria, advanced nurse practitioners Carrie Mandeville and Sophie Dyett, and CEO of Thanet Health CIC Dr Markus Maiden-Tilsen attended the ceremony (pictured right).

The Home Visiting Service supports patients, practices and care homes in Thanet with excellent clinical support throughout the day, helping GP practices to reduce their workload and enables care homes to have clinicians visit their clients. The service works in close collaboration with other providers such as C-ART, district nurses from Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust, social services and third sector organisations.

C–ART was initiated with the understanding that patients were often not seen by the most appropriate clinician at the most appropriate place. It was founded on the principles of integrated care – creating a team from multiple agencies and services all working together to ensure the best possible holistic care for a patient in crisis.

Both services are excellent examples of partnership working and Thanet Health CIC would like to thank the clinicians who contribute to the services, and patients for their continued positive feedback.
