Your child will be asked to have a very simple and quick dental examination at their school. The dental team who are trained to do this work will only do a simple examination. No treatment will be provided and your child will not be forced to have a dental check if they do not want to on the day.
The dental team will use new disposable gloves and single use mirror for each child. This examination cannot be as thorough as the one done by your own dentist so parents should still take their children for regular check-ups with their own dentist.
All COVID precautions will be followed (including the use of disposable aprons and surgical face masks) and the dental team attending will be fully vaccinated.
Only children who are five years old on the day of the survey will be seen by the dental team. The dental team will contact you if there are any concerns about your child’s mouth or teeth, so that they can offer advice and support for you, your child and your family on mouth care.
