Vronnie turns back the clock
Vronni Ward from Dover is proving that age is just a number. At 70, she’s lost 10 kilos, reversed a prediabetes diagnosis and said she feels 'like a new woman.'
Working full time at Dover Museum and going to the gym five days-a-week, Vronni (pictured right with husband Nick) lives life to the fullest but she wasn’t at the weight she wanted to be. A Well Woman check with her practice nurse was the turning point, when she learned her heart age was 74. Vronni said: “I just thought: Gosh this is ridiculous. Enough is enough!”
Her nurse referred her to Cas Nech, a Lifestyle Adviser from One You Kent, part of Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust.
With Cas’s guidance, Vronni moved away from years of yo-yo dieting and embraced a balanced lifestyle focused on nutrition. Her new routine includes healthy breakfasts and lunches, lighter dinners and fewer processed foods. She’s drinking more water and cut down on sugar and alcohol but still enjoys the occasional treat without feeling guilty.
“Cas gave me loads of tips that really made sense and had an impact straight away,” Vronni said. “I felt great at a family wedding recently. Everyone kept saying how well I looked and I feel amazing too.”
With nine children and eight grandchildren cheering her on, Vronni is more determined than ever to stay on track. Her journey is a powerful reminder that it is never too late to take control of your health and feel fantastic doing it.
