Coronavirus update

There has been extended media coverage about an outbreak of a new strain of coronavirus in China, which has now been declared a global emergency by the World Health Organisation.

Transmission of the virus between humans has been seen across mainland China and in a small number of people who have travelled from there.

It is thought to be transmitted via large respiratory droplets and direct human contact with infected people. The current risk for the UK is reported by Public Health England to be MODERATE.
