Discovery Orthotics

Welcome to Discovery Orthotics

We manufacture custom-made podiatry orthotics to businesses and NHS organisations all over the UK.

Our team of skilled and experienced technicians can offer a full orthotic manufacturing service from our Kent-based lab.

As part of the NHS, we are a trusted provider. Any profits are reinvested – so by using us you are helping to support the NHS.

Our products range from simple orthoses, to complex fully bespoke devices manufactured to the highest specification and all at highly competitive prices.

We can provide off-the-shelf products and other materials, such as Poron, simple EVA insoles for chair-side devices and impression boxes.

We manufacture and supply our own line of generic devices made from injection moulded polypropylene. These can also be semi-bespoke by adding cut-outs or covers.

Our innovative orthotics service is constantly looking at ways to enhance and develop its manufacturing processes and in March 2015 it was granted a patent for the use of 3D-printing to manufacture multi-material/density foot orthoses (Patent No. GB2508204).

We can provide a range of off-the-shelf products and other materials, such as poron, simple EVA insoles for chair-side devices and impression boxes that are comparatively priced due to the bulk discounts that we have negotiated with our suppliers.

Keen to develop new business, our laboratory now provides its orthotic manufacturing services to a number of other NHS Trusts in England and Wales.

Deputy Podiatric and Orthotic Services Manager, Cwm Taf University Health Board

Cwm Taf University Health Board’s podiatry department has been using stock polypropylene insoles supplied by Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust for 18 months and has recently been working in partnership to develop new insole designs to meet the needs of our patients. This has been an exemplar of partnership working, which has benefited both parties. It has been a pleasure to work with the Orthotics Team in Kent; they have been highly responsive to our requests.

Biomechanical Specialist and Team Leader, Podiatry, CSH Surrey

Kent Community Health has been manufacturing simple and bespoke orthotics for us for two years. We have been happy with the quality of their products and the service we have received from them.

Emma Stevens-Tonks, CSH Surrey

After many years of being supplied with orthotics from one of the UK’s largest suppliers, I decided to switch my work to the orthotics lab at the Queen Victoria Memorial Hospital in Herne Bay. I have never had reason to regret this decision. The service is first-class. There is an outstanding team of very experienced technicians, with excellent management and administrative support. The products are good, the turn-round fast and the prices are competitive. Most importantly, they are always on hand to give advice and alter devices at short notice.

Ralph Graham, Consultant Podiatric Surgeon, Herne Bay, Kent

In my private practice at three private hospitals I use Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust’s (KCHFT) Orthotics Team for the provision of my orthotic devices because: service is fast, service is reliable, devices are accurate, devices are well made, presentable and well finished and costs are very competitive. I have moved all my work from commercial providers because on all the above parameters KCHFT surpasses other labs I have used.
