Working with Gravesend Gurdwara to support community health

This week, our Chair Colin Lynch visited Gravesend Gurdwara with Public Governor Pirthipal Kang to learn more about the vital role faith and community organisations play in supporting health and wellbeing.

The Gurdwara is much more than a place of worship. It is a thriving community hub, bringing people together, tackling isolation, supporting wellbeing and helping people access the services they need.

Its health and wellbeing centre works closely with local partners to support residents, promote independence and help people stay well for longer.

The visit highlighted the strength of community networks and the important role they can play in helping us listen to, involve and work alongside local people. Faith groups and community organisations are often trusted voices at the heart of neighbourhoods, creating opportunities to share information, understand local needs and reach communities in meaningful ways.

As we continue to develop neighbourhood health and strengthen integrated working across Kent and Medway, relationships with organisations such as Gravesend Gurdwara will be essential. By working together, we can better understand the communities we serve, improve access to services and ensure local voices help shape care.
