Suggest a name for your new health hub
A brand-new NHS health and wellbeing centre is taking shape at Westwood Cross, Broadstairs – and now local people have the chance to help choose its name.
Set to open later this year, the state-of-the-art health hub will bring together a wide range of NHS community services, voluntary organisations and a brand-new community diagnostic centre. It will also become the new home for St Peter’s GP practice.
This innovative hub is all about helping people stay well for longer, with a strong focus on prevention and proactive care.
And now, the community is being invited to play a part in its story by suggesting a name.
The naming online survey is quick and simple with just two questions: what is your idea and why? Suggestions could be based on the local history, landmarks or people who’ve made a difference. Ideas need to be in quick, as the survey closes on Tuesday, 1 July.
From the very beginning, Thanet people – including NHS staff, partners and the voluntary groups – have been central to shaping the vision for this £10million hub, at the Carey building, in Northwood Road.
Last week, some of the team responsible for bringing the hub to life, had a sneak preview of how its developing and met some of the local people working on the hub.
Plumber Alan Warner said: “It’s what we need with all these new homes round here. If it brings quicker services to the area then, roll on.”
Karen Sharp, Director of the East Kent Health and Care Partnership said: “There’s lots of activity on the site, everyone is working hard to turn this building into a brilliant facility to provide health and care services for the residents of Thanet. It’s so exciting to see it coming to life.”
Led by the East Kent Health and Care Partnership (EKHCP), this ambitious project brings together a wide range of organisations across east Kent, to deliver better, more joined-up care for the people of the east Kent.
