KCHFT ranked first among community trusts
Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust (KCHFT) has been placed top of the national rankings for community trusts in the latest NHS National Oversight Framework – the independent assessment used by NHS England to evaluate the performance of every trust in England.
Every NHS trust is assessed quarterly against a consistent set of national standards, covering urgent and emergency care, elective services and mental health. Community trusts like KCHFT are measured against metrics specifically designed for non-acute organisations. In the most recent quarter, KCHFT achieved segment one status, the highest possible rating, and placed first among all community trusts in England.
Mairead McCormick, Chief Executive, said: "We know these rankings can shift each quarter, but this is a fantastic recognition of the dedication and hard work of every single person across our organisation. Being ranked first among community trusts in England is something we should all be proud of – but what matters most to us is what it represents: people in our communities receiving the high-quality care they deserve. This strengthens our commitment to keep improving every day."
What the NHS National Oversight Framework means
Trusts in the top segment are offered greater autonomy, including the ability to reinvest surplus budgets into frontline improvements such as new diagnostic equipment and building upgrades. From this year, a new wave of NHS foundation trusts will be introduced, giving high-performing organisations more freedom to shape services around local needs, in line with the government's 10-Year Plan.
