As part of the National Child Measurement Programme our School Health Team weighs and measures all children in reception (aged four and five) and year six (aged 10 and 11).
If you have a child in these year groups, you will receive a letter with more information from us, before your child is measured. You can opt out of the NCMP, by replying to the letter.
On the day, one of our team will weigh and measure your child in their clothes at school. They will make sure the measurements are done sensitively and in private. Your child’s results will not be shared with teachers or other children.
You will be sent a letter in the post with your child’s results. If you are concerned, you can speak to your school nurse, who can offer advice.
If your child needs support with healthy eating or taking more exercise, we have a number of schemes which can help.
