2 day course

This two day programme explores the potential improvements that individuals can make to their health by drawing on motivational interviewing techniques and a variety of communication styles. Participants will gain a clear understanding of how they can move towards making every contact count with their patients, clients.

This course incorporates the learning outcomes of the accredited Level 2 Award Understanding Behaviour Change from the Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH). Undertaking the award is mandatory.

Aim

To provide participants with the knowledge and confidence to engage in brief interventions with individuals about behavior changes that could improve their health and welling.

Target group

This programme is suitable for front line staff that work in healthcare settings, including; GP Practices, Pharmacies, Health Trainers, Health Carers, or anyone concerned with improving people’s health and well being.

Objectives

On completion of the course participants will:

  • understand how to ensure communication with individuals is effective
  • know how to support individuals to adopt positive health behaviours
  • understand how an individual can be supported in developing strategies enabling them to make lifestyle or health behaviour changes
  • understand how to support an individual with a lifestyle or behaviour change implementation plan
