Getting Started: Introducing sexual health and wellbeing for parents/carers of children and young people with learning and/or physical disabilities

Half day course
The workshop is designed to introduce the topic of sexual health to parents/carers and to support them to feel more confident in supporting their child or young person’s sexual health needs.
In some environments it will be expected that the service will take an active role in the workshop delivery (i.e. PSHE lead/tutor within a school setting).
Parents/carers of children and young people with learning and/or physical disabilities across Kent (maximum of 30 parents).
To support parents/carers of children and young people to feel more confident in promoting sexual health and wellbeing with their children or young people with learning and/or physical disabilities.
By the end of the workshop parents will:
- have been given the opportunity to explore their values and attitudes around sexual health and be supported to identify and discuss areas of concern or anxiety
- have explored how providing sexual health information/support to a child or young person can support the reduction of their vulnerability
- be aware of resources and services to support sexual health and wellbeing
- have had the opportunity to explore the services sexual health policy or curriculum
