Visiting times

Visiting will be between 2pm and 7pm to protect lunchtime meals, although we can be flexible for morning visits if relatives want to provide care for patients.

Who we are

The team is made up of a matron, ward manager, registered nurses, rehabilitation assistants, health care assistants, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, a care manager, a pharmacist, visiting medical officer and medical consultants.

What we do

We provide a rehabilitation-focussed inpatient approach to care. There are 18 beds available and the hospital takes patients directly from their own homes, when they are unable to cope at home, but do not need to be in an acute hospital.

We offer a service for patients, within the acute sector, who are medically stable but need further rehabilitation. Our aim is to help patients regain their independence where appropriate and to teach them coping strategies, for example after a stroke.

Staff work with the patient, carer and relatives to make sure all aspects of care, including assessment of needs on admission, joint goal setting, planning, implementation and evaluation of care, are effective.

Whitstable and Tankerton Hospital also offers several outpatient clinic services.

How do you use this service?

We take patients who come under pathways 2/3 of the Discharge to Assess scheme, non-weight-bearing patients and step-up patients.

Parking and facilities at the hospital

Free parking is available at the hospital for visitors.

There are vending machines for sandwiches and hot and cold drinks in the hospital. There is also a Tesco Express close by in Tankerton High Street.

Other services offered at the hospital

Please note there may be be other services at this location, including services not provided by KCHFT.
