Livingstone Community Hospital, Dartford

Who we are
The team consists of a modern matron, registered nurses, rehabilitation assistants, health care assistants, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, a care manager, a pharmacist and a visiting medical officer.
What we do

We provide a rehabilitation-focussed inpatient approach to care. There are 28 beds available and the hospital takes patients directly from their own homes, when they are unable to cope at home, but do not need to be in an acute hospital.

We offer a service for patients, within the acute sector, who are medically stable but need further rehabilitation.

Our aim is to help patients regain their independence, where appropriate and to teach them coping strategies, for example after a stroke.

Staff work in partnership with the patient, carer and relatives to ensure all aspects of care, including assessment of needs on admission, joint goal setting, planning, implementation and evaluation of care, are effective.

We're listening

  • Would like staff to have more training so they can accommodate deaf patients.

    Ward staff attended a deaf awareness workshop to ensure they have the knowledge needed.
  • We want easier access to clear patient information leaflets.

    We set up a Patient Information Library on our website.
  • Would like more activities, as sometimes bored.

    We introduced bingo and karaoke on a Friday night.
